Ed Connelly is Vice President, North Slope Operations for ConocoPhillips Alaska.  He leads theEd Connelly Operations, Wells, and Supply Chain organizations for the Kuparuk and Alpine Oil Fields, and overall Alaska Business Unit.

Connelly began his career in sales with Champion Technologies in 1993 and then moved to project management of varied facilities, with Ulster Petroleums in 1994. In 2000, he moved to a senior production operations role with Canadian Hunter, later acquired by Burlington Resources in 2002 and acquired by ConocoPhillips in 2006 where he worked in a variety of production, operations, and leadership positions in Calgary.

In 2009, Connelly transferred to Brisbane as operations manager, where he led the development and maturity of the APLNG production assets in a joint venture secondee role with Origin. One of his primary tasks was to focus on mentoring Origin staff and developing a sustainable operating philosophy.

Connelly returned to Calgary in May 2013, where he became Vice President of Oil Sands Operations. During this position he was responsible for the operations of Surmont, and most notably the successful ramp-up of Surmont Phase 2, the largest ever single phase in-situ project.

In 2017, Ed Connelly became the General Manager, Global Production for ConocoPhillips where he had global accountability for the Operations, Production, Surface Engineering Functions and Talent Management Team where he focused on partnering with the Business Units to continually improve safety, cost efficiency, production processes and staff development.

He assumed his current position in November 2022.

Connelly earned a petroleum engineering technology diploma from NAIT in 1992 and possesses more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
