Tara Sweeney

Tara Sweeney is Vice President, External Affairs, ConocoPhillips Alaska.
Tara has decades of experience in public service and corporate leadership. Tara was the first Alaska Native to serve as Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior (2018-2021). Prior to her role at the Department of the Interior, Tara spent nearly two decades at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation serving in external and government affairs. She has navigated legislative and regulatory issues in-state and nationally, having lived and worked in both Alaska and Washington D.C.
Additionally, Tara has served as international chair of the Arctic Economic Council and as the co-chair of the Board at the Alaska Federation of Natives. She has also served on the leadership committee for the Native American Enterprise Initiative at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Tara earned a Bachelor of Science from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
