Future-focused and forward-thinking, we support partners who help educate tomorrow’s workforce today. ConocoPhillips Alaska’s Spirit of the Future grants support nonprofit organizations and education partners who educate youth and bridge the gap from graduation to meaningful careers.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of our industry and the communities we serve, we offer internships and job opportunities to Alaskans, including many University of Alaska graduates. We also provide grants support to organizations who aim to teach and inspire Alaska's youth to pursue STEM careers and offer post-secondary education and job training. Our goal? A skilled and capable workforce and a brighter, more prosperous future for all.

Success story:  Increasing Alaska hire

The ConocoPhillips Alaska Workforce Development program collaborates with academic and training organizations, vocational schools, and post-secondary institutions to build a workforce pipeline reflective of our communities.

We are the University of Alaska system’s single largest philanthropic contributor, having donated more than $46 million since 1982. Funding has supported the creation of the ConocoPhillips Arctic Science and Engineering Endowment and provided equipment for the ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building.

Beyond supporting engineering, geology and mining throughout the UA system, we also invest in the Rural Alaska Honors Institute and GeoFORCE Alaska at UAF, and the ANSEP program aimed at preparing the workforce of the future.

We are also a longtime supporter of Iḷisaġvik College, located in the northernmost point of Alaska in Utqiaġvik. Iḷisaġvik College offers post-secondary academic, vocational and technical education while preserving and strengthening Alaska Native culture, language, values and traditions.

Success story: Preserving the state's history

In 2024, ConocoPhillips Alaska donated $2 million to the Ted Stevens Foundation to enable the creation of the Alaska Leaders Archive at the UAA/APU Consortium Library. This archive will preserve critical state records and make them accessible for future generations, ensuring that the history and legacy of Alaska's leaders are maintained and shared with the community. The project includes plans to expand the Consortium Library to house the archive, further enhancing its capacity to serve as a valuable resource for the state.

Spirit of the Future grants support youth sports, recreation and arts programs that empower youth with valuable life skills, fostering creativity and critical thinking and contributing to a well-rounded education.

Success story: Empowering young girls

Girl Scouts of Alaska (GSAK) Girl Scout Camps are designed to help girls discover the world around them, connect with other campers, and take action in their own lives and communities. The camps are committed to creating a community that helps campers unlock their potential and discover the world while developing life skills. ConocoPhillips Alaska has invested in the success and expansion of GSAK camps by contributing to the purchase of essential camp equipment and funding the construction of a new camp pavilion.
