Kuparuk
On Alaska's North Slope, ConocoPhillips operates the Kuparuk River Unit (Kuparuk), North America’s second largest oil field, 40 miles west of Prudhoe Bay.
ConocoPhillips also owns a majority of North America’s second-largest oil field, the Kuparuk River Field. Kuparuk is located 40 miles west of Prudhoe Bay, was discovered in 1969 by Sinclair Oil Corp., and acquired that year by ARCO. ConocoPhillips operates the field and continues to develop it.
Production at Kuparuk began in 1981, with a record rate of 322,000 barrels per day in 1992. In 2024, net production was approximately 63 MBOED.
GKA maintains an active development program. Field installations include three central production facilities that separate oil, natural gas, and water, and a seawater treatment plant.
