Civic and arts opportunities often bring communities together in a way that other types of activities cannot. Whether it is an Independence Day parade or simply getting the family outdoors during the long winter, ConocoPhillips is proud to contribute to events throughout Alaska that enrich the quality of life for all Alaskans.

Advancing the Spirit of Conservation

ConocoPhillips recognizes that a clean environment is something every community needs.

The company awarded over $750,000 to various conservation and natural resource projects in 2014. One highlight is the long-standing Spirit of Conservation Program which gave more than $300,000 to 15 projects statewide, with a focus on salmon habitat restoration, trail enhancements, bird research and conservation education. Through this program our investments have included Friends of Creamer’s Field in Fairbanks, Kenai Watershed Forum, Alaska Association of Conservation Districts, and Great Land Trust. We also donated $150,000 to the Alaska SeaLife Center for its marine wildlife rescue program.

Anchorage Museum

ConocoPhillips is a long-time supporter of the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, including recent support of “The Dena’ina Way of Living,” the first comprehensive exhibition about Dena’ina Athabascan people. The company also supports the Imaginarium Discovery Center at the museum, most recently providing funding for the Earth and Life Space exhibit, offering a fun look into the differences between various kinds of scientific study.

Sponsorships

ConocoPhillips is a long-time sponsor of the Anchorage Opera, the Anchorage Museum, Anchorage Parks and Recreation's Westchester Lagoon Family Skate, and the Anchorage Concert Association's Nutcracker Community Performance.

We are among the major sponsors of the Mount Marathon Race in Seward, one of Alaska’s premier running events, as well as the presenting sponsor of the University of Alaska's Anchorage Mayor’s Marathon, a top-tier destination marathon attracting more than 3,000 runners from all 50 states and around the globe.

We sponsor the Anchorage Heart Walk, the Fairbanks Heart Walk and have served as the title sponsor for the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships at Kincaid Park — an event that brought national and international Nordic skiers to Anchorage – and we are the title sponsor of the Besh Cup Race Series and the Tour of Anchorage.

We were a major sponsor of the 2014 Arctic Winter Games, an international biennial sporting competition, held in Fairbanks. Click here to view the video we produced to welcome athletes and visitors to the Opening Ceremony.

Additionally, we are a sponsor of Skiku/Nordic Journeys. Skiku volunteers and coaches travel throughout Alaska establishing Nordic ski programs for youth in communities and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Public Radio

ConocoPhillips has been a long-time supporter public broadcasting throughout the state of Alaska. The largest single donation goes to Alaska Public Telecommunications Inc., which provides support to public radio stations all over Alaska. Direct support often is also provided to KBRW in Barrow, Koahnic Broadcast Corporation in Anchorage, CoastAlaska supporting stations in Southeast Alaska and others.
