Tara SweeneyTara Sweeney is Vice President, External Affairs, ConocoPhillips Alaska.

Sweeney is an accomplished leader with a background in public service and corporate leadership. Among her leadership roles over the last three decades, Sweeney was the first Alaska Native to serve as Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior (2018-2021).

Prior to her role at the Department of the Interior, Sweeney spent nearly two decades at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation serving in external and government affairs. Sweeney has navigated legislative and regulatory issues in-state and nationally, having lived and worked in both Alaska and Washington D.C.   

Additionally, Sweeney has served as international chair of the Arctic Economic Council and as the co-chair of the Board at the Alaska Federation of Natives. Sweeney has also served on the leadership committee for the Native American Enterprise Initiative at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Sweeney earned a Bachelor of Science from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
